Small Business Saturday 2023 - Spotlight on Gra-Knight.

Now in its Eleventh year in the UK, Small Business Saturday has grown significantly year on year.

In the aftermath of the pandemic, and with the pressures of the cost-of-living crisis, businesses nationwide are grappling with economic challenges, emphasising the critical need the support of their community now more than ever.

As Small Business Saturday approaches, we want to celebrate some of the business in our local area.


Well established in the area, Gra-Knight provide stunning kitchen worktops. They offer the full service, from material selection at their showroom in Four Marks, to on-site template manufacture at their yard and installation by their skilled team.

When did you launch your business?

We went Ltd in 2006 and before that we were a sole trader.

Where did the business name originate from?

A play with words to include family surname and the only surfaces available then were Granite and Marble. Granite – Knight – Gra-Knight

What is your background ?

Stephen Knight, the owner did an apprenticeship in the trade straight from leaving full-time education. After rising the ranks at most companies he worked for, he decided to branch off and open his own company. With Kellie’s brain and Steve’s skills and knowledge of the material, Gra-Knight was born.

What is your greatest business achievement?

The inclusion throughout the years of Stephen's wife and both sons in the company. And also changing so many clients lives with the correct advice to make their house a home.

What is your business's greatest strength?

Experience and knowledge of everything granite, marble, quartz and ceramics. Material knowledge and customer care is what sets us miles ahead of the rest.

What do you think is the biggest challenge facing small businesses today?

Everyday costs i.e. Rent, services, employing staff getting the right advice and training.

What plans do you have for the future of your business?

To advance with the knowledge and skills we possess and evolve the technology. We aim towards making Gra-Knight and stone fabrication a more environmentally friendly trade.
